Gizmo now Amethyst

I adopted my precious cat fur child from PETS almost 9 years ago!  (well, she turns 9 in March…I adopted her in May of 2012)... She was fostered by Janie in Brackenfell.

She (Gizmo back then) had a not so nice start to life…as all rescues do….she was part of a litter rescued from a settlement in Kraaifontein… I saw her with her siblings on one of your newsletters, with the heading “fed weetbix for the first 2 weeks of their lives”… I went to the foster home, Janie, took my baby to Dr le Roux to do the leukemia/aids test….and waited a week for the results.  They came back negative and not long after that, I brought my baby home!!!  She had a bit of a run in with a foster dog that unfortunately got in while she was at Janie’s, and sadly her one eye was damaged, but this didn’t bother me, I wanted her!!  I had her seen to by my vet and voila, her eye healed nicely and today she has the most beautiful eyes ever!!

She, Amethyst(Amee), has been my be-all-and-end-all ever since then!  She absolutely rules my house and life and is a spoilt rotten only child and she just loves it that way!   Sy het spreekwoordelik “met haar gat in die botter geval”!!  She even had medical aid before I did!!

My dad now lives with me too, and he dotes on his “grandchild”…only one he’s got...lol!!!

Character trait  - she is obsessed with bedding …loves being under throws and blankets…even in summer.

Here are some pictures of what she looked like as “gizmo” after being rescued;  when she came home as a 8 week old kitten, and today.  She has turned into the most beautiful feline ever and I could send all the pics but there a thousands!

Toffee and Fudge

So Toffee and Fudge where found in Macassar with their mom and the rest of the litter. Mom and rest of pups were adopted and these 2 mutts were left, brother Toffee and sister Fudge. My hubby and I married for 2 years had just purchased our first home and it seemed empty without a dog (both of us grew up with dogs) so we decided to go the adoption route. Below is the picture of the Toffe & Fudge Adoption pic we received from PETS saying there were still 2 pups available – a boy and a girl – we couldn’t separate them, now having had a rough start to begin with.

So 2 dogs it was to be. Fudge had a joint problem in her front right paw and was unable to walk on it and Toffee was so terrified of people that we would often have to search for him in the house as he was always hiding.

So Fudge got pampered with tons of leg massages until she started using her foot proper and Toffee was living in my T-shirt (while I was wearing it), I kept him with me all the time to get him use to human contact.

They became our fur kids, and 3 years later we decided to give them a human sister who they now absolutely adore and Toffee still today does not leave her side.

Fudge is an independent little lady who likes minimal attention and prefers calmness and Toffee is the complete opposite who thrives on attention from anyone and loves rough play.

So with the addition of another human sister our family is now complete and would be totally incomplete without my oldest – the twins (we call them), our precious furkids!

Trompie now known as Whiskey

I told my husband, who was adamant that we should not get another dog, that Trompie's foster mommy was going away for the holidays and he needed a place to stay until she got back. 6 years later he is still with us!!

Princess

I adopted Princess in 2012 in December, from PETS.

She is spoilt rotten. I always take her out with me and she is so well-behaved and has such a beautiful nature. Normally known as 'snappy' and quick to nip, fortunately for me, she is not like that at all.

She settled down with my other cats and dogs almost immediately with little or no fuss. I did not know that Miniature Pinscher's like to herd but, herd she does. When I call my cats in for food, you will always find Princess in their midst, trying to herd them together.

The photos show her wardrobe.

Did I mention, she is spoilt rotten??

Riley

We adopted our sweetest Riley from you around 2 years ago.

He is the happiest boy alive!

He was rescued from a hit and run accident and his paw was very injured.
I was told he probably wouldn't be the best runner but that's definitely
not true! He out-runs all the dogs on the Beach everyday without any problem.

Thank you PETS for our little blessing
